Favorite Beauty Products

I haven’t been able to post as much as I want, but I am wanting to put more time into this blog. I had an Instagram for B4Blog too, but now it is faithblog18, so I focus more on faith-based posts there. I will still post some things on here, but I thought I would post some of my favorite beauty products. Many of these are drug store brands, but are very good for the price.

I have had the Clarisonic Mia 2 for years. I couldnt find the charger for a long time and I finally found it (hidden under a ton of beauty stuff in my drawer, of course). When I had used it before, I used it with the face wash it came with, but I tried it with my Aveeno face wash and it did just as well. I would recommend this product. It is a little expensive, but totally worth it, especially if you wear makeup or have been sweating. It gives your face a deep clean and leaves it feeling smooth and fresh. If you put moisturizer on afterward, it feels amazing.

My husband’s cousin was wearing this brand at a family get together one day and said she had been wearing the same coat for over a day (she had a dark color on, so it stays even longer). I decided to try it. I bought the color shown and a more pink/peach color. These lipsticks stay on for a long time. I want to get more colors because of how well they stay on. The only downfall is because they are a “stain,” they dry out the lips. I put on a sheer gloss and it still stays on for a long time.

Because I am not working, I needed a new foundation that wasn’t too expensive. I had a few recommendations for this one. I have really dry skin and am really never able to achieve that “dewy” look. I bought this thinking I wouldnt be able to get the dewy look and I am able to every time. I almost have to use a powder to tone it down some, even with my dry skin. I love the finish gives and the smoothness it gives my skin. The only downfall is, is that it doesn’t stay put all day, at least for me it doesn’t. It is okay though because I usuaally wear it to go out for just a few hours, which is long enough for no touch ups. I love this stuff for the price.

These are my favorite bath bombs! Some bath bombs I have tried are $5 a bomb and just last the one bath. In this package you get 6 bombs and they are about a dollar or less per bomb and they still make your skin feel really soft. They also smell really good and you can get them at Target.

These are just a few things I love right now. I will probably make some more posts of things I love…. I feel like Oprah and her favorite things list. My list is a lot more affordable though.

Wal- Mart Haul

I have always been a name brand girl, but since becoming a parent, I have started looking for cheaper options. I am addicted to Style Encore and Clothes Mentor, but I passed a cute top at Wal Mart the other day and decided to look on the website last night. Did you know they sell high end brands on the site? I saw a Kate Spade purse and some other nicer brands, so I started looking through the clearance and found some awesome deals for fall. Hopefully the quality is good, but if not, I can just go back and return them.

Found this cute kimono for $13.99 . It also came in maroon and gray.

This was $10.99 . It came in several other colors. I plan on wearing it with leggings and boots by itself or with the mustard cardigan I found (see below).

This was the most expensive of what I bought. It was $21.99, but I had to get it. I have been wanting a mustard colored cardigan for a long time. There are so many options. I can wear it with the dress above or with serveral other options. I am short and I know longer cardigans are a fashion no-no, but fashion rules are rules I dont mind breaking 🙂

This was $10.00. I thought it would be good with the kimono or the cardigan I bought or by itself. I like to get items that will go with several things.

This was $9.58. This is one I hope is good quality. I love long, chunky sweaters with jeans and boots.

Last Maternity Haul

I have just a few things I was able to wear to work that are spring clothes, so I needed to get some casual shorts and shirts to make it these last few weeks before Micah comes. I went to my tried and true Clothes Mentor and picked up a few things.

Just a lightweight floral top to wear with jean shorts or jeans

I like longer jeans, so I picked up these Bermuda jean shorts. They fit kind of small, but I thought I could wear them after Micah is born for a few weeks until I lose the baby weight.

I was feeling summery and just wanted a causal shirt to wear with jean shorts

I didn’t try this dress on until I got home because I found it at the end and it is a medium , but it fit once I got home. It is a flowy, longer dress, but I thought I could wear it once Micah is born. I loved the sandals too. They have kind of an “African” feel to them. My girls at school would have probably liked them.

Outfit for Memorial Day weekend. Basic white maternity shorts and a red, white and blue top.

One more pair of jean shorts. Jeans are my thing. Love them.

The next thing didn’t come from Clothes Mentor and I will probably will wait until I lose some weight after Micah is born to wear it, but I had to get this. It fits, but I need more coverage at the top. For those of you who know me, you know I LOVE Journey and I love the song “Don’t Stop Believing,” so I had to get this.

The next outfit is Eli’s. It is his outfit for Memaw and Papaw’s cook out tomorrow. Memaw got him a couple outfits too. She didn’t know I bought him something, so he will have some outfits for tomorrow, Monday and the 4th. Sporting our nation’s colors never goes out of style 🙂

NuSkin part 2

It has been almost a month since my last post. I really haven’t had much to post about. I got a BoxyCharm and a Wal Mart Beauty Box, but I have so much makeup and samples that I may cancel them for awhile.

One thing I have been OBSESSED with lately are the products I have been trying from NuSkin. In my previous post, I had tried the toothpaste and the moisturizer. Since then, I have tried the mud mask, liquid body bar, and ordered the self tanner and hair mask. I am so excited to try those.

The first thing I am going to review is the mud mask.

mud mask

This is the mask that I have been using. Ask me about it! The picture above shows the difference just a couple of days can make. It can clear up skin from acne, blemishes, it tones, and I have even seen people use it for stretch marks. I have also seen men put it under their chin for razor burn. I am going to try to see if my husband will do it to show how great it works.

before and after mask

The picture above is a before and after picture after just once use. The picture on the left has a few bumps and lines, but on the right, my skin is more smooth. I do the mask 2-3 times a week, sometimes less, because I don’t want to use it so quickly. I could honestly use it every day if I could.

There are a couple of things about the mask- because it does draw out the impurities and toxins, it does make my face red for a few hours afterward. Not everyone is the same, so you may not have the same effect. I use it in the evening and follow up with the daily moisturizer I mentioned in my previous post. By the time I wake up, my skin is refreshed and the redness is gone. My skin is very dry and sensitive, so if you have oily or combination skin, you may not have any redness at all. All I can say is I LOVE this product!!

The four pictures above are the four products I have tried (and loved) so far. I try to buy new products to try every week or two because I am loving everything I am trying. So far I have a new mask, moisturizer, toothpaste and body wash that I swear by. By the end, I would like to totally be converted to this company because I am really loving everything and I am wanting to promote it because it is something I am sold on.

Below is a picture of when I started using the toothpaste and after a couple of weeks of using it. I have noticed a big difference in my teeth. I brush my teeth in the morning and I eat and drink throughout the day and when I brush my teeth in the evening, I don’t feel that grimy feeling on my teeth that I did before. My teeth are still smooth and my mouth doesn’t feel gross. You have to try this stuff!!!

before and after

I recently decided to try the toothpaste I have seen every one trying and swearing by. If you haven’t heard of NuSkin, you need to try it. It is a company that sells several beauty and health products. I was talked to about it by a girl I know and I was skeptical about being a distributor until I tried it. I also bought a daily moisturizer to try because my skin has been so dry lately.

Let’s just say…. I am sold!

The toothpaste comes with or without fluoride. I chose the fluoride and the first time trying it I was afraid it would taste gross, because let’s be honest- most toothpaste that claims to whiten at least 3 shades is usually not that great. When I was finished brushing, I was excited because the toothpaste tasted great and my teeth felt clean all day. Usually after being at work, eating lunch and going the whole day before brushing in the evening, my teeth usually had that scummy feeling , but after using this, they still felt clean. I am currently pregnant and very cautious about trying things like this, but this is safe enough for pregnant women and kids.

The next product I ordered with my toothpaste was the moisture restore day. It is a day moisturizer. I have had very dry skin lately. Part of the reason for that is because I am pregnant and a teacher- I need to hydrate, but haven’t been very good at doing that because I cant go to the bathroom whenever I want. I am trying to hydrate more, but sometimes I get busy too.

I put this on one morning and my dry skin was a lot less noticeable by the end of the day. It is a day moisturizer, but I will use it before bed too because I am that addicted to how it is making my skin feel. It comes in a fairly small bottle, but it doesn’t take much to use. I am trying to not be greedy with it, but it is addicting!

I am sold on the products I have tried so far. It has been just over a week since I started using them and I have already put in another order to try two more products that Nu Skin has to offer.

Target Beauty Haul

I love looking in the makeup/toiletry aisle in Target. If I see something I want to try, I get it . This weekend I picked up a few things I wanted to try.

This is another scent of the Me! Bath Bombs that I love. It is the summer rain scent. I tried one tonight and it smelled so good. I want to try the birthday cake scent next time.

I have really dry skin, so I tried this mask on Saturday. It did a good job at the time, but my face didn’t feel any more “hydrated” the next morning.

I put this on my lips and I didnt feel like it really did anything. It started to sting and it didn’t feel like there was anything on the mask, so I took it off.

I have not tried this yet, but I like brightening masks, so hopefully this will work well.

What are your favorite Target beauty finds??

Style Encore Haul

I have made 2 trips to Style Encore in the past couple of weeks. If you don’t know what Style Encore is, is it is a store in Centerville, Ohio that is a second hand clothing store. They don’t take junior brand names, so it is geared toward working women instead of teens. You can find name brand clothes like Anne Taylor, J. Crew, etc for really cheap. I barely buy new anymore. I thought I would share some of my “maternity” finds.

This is just a flowy floral top I bought. I thought it would look nice for work with a pair for skinny khaki pants or a pair or skinny blue pants and flats.

I am all about comfort during pregnancy and this just a striped green shirt to wear with jeans and flats. I will probably pair it with a silver chain or some kind of accessory.

Another casual shirt. It is a plaid short sleeved shirt to wear with jeans.

I don’t have a whole lot of white jewelry, but I thought these would be cute with white pants and some kind of top with it. I had to get these because 1. They were $5 and 2. I like statement necklaces/ earrings .

These are kind of corny, but I thought they would be cute for Mother’s Day and I am so blessed to be a mom, so why not??

I will jump at the chance to get anything with crosses or inspirational sayings on it, so I found this kind of “rustic” looking bracelet and thought I would get it.

As you can probably tell, I like stripes… it probably isn’t a good thing since they make me look bigger in the chest and belly right now, but I am pregnant and I have an excuse. Black and white can be paired with several different colored pants and goes well dressed up or down. I love versatile clothing, especially since I won’t be wearing it long.

This is a dress that is actually from Forever 21. I am surprised they had it in Style Encore and I am surprised it was a loose fit for a large, since they are a junior clothing store. It is short sleeved, so I plan to wear it when it gets warmer.

For those of you who are first time moms- when you pack for the hospital, don’t pack tight fitting clothes, jeans, etc. You will want to be as comfortable as possible in the hospital so pack pjs and sweats for your stay. If you want to look “cute” when you leave the hospital, pack a cute flowy dress or maxi. That way no matter what kind of birth you have (c- section or natural) you will be comfortable and it won’t rub your stitches or lady parts 🙂

Ok, back to the clothes…

I bought this scarf with a specific use for it. I have a chambray shirt and dress and I thought it would be cute with either, which leads me to my last picture….

The shirt and pants aren’t new, but I bought them at Style Encore or Clothes Mentor awhile back and I thought this would make a good outfit. Sorry about the shirt. It is clean, but it will be ironed when I wear it next. I am taking after my mom- I cant go out of the house with wrinkled clothes!

Do any of you shop second hand? If so, where???
